Caister Open Bowls Tournament
A four wood Aussie Pairs, tournament will be played on Saturday 26th July 2025 at Caister Bowls Club. It is a competition for 24 teams with prize money of £140 for the winning team, £80 for the runners-up, and £40 for third place. Starting at 10:00am and finishing around 4:30 pm. Teams can be ladies, men or mixed.
Format.
Two groups of twelve teams will play three games of seven ends each with a break of around one hour between games. Group A must be ready to start their first game at 10:00 am and group B must be ready to start their first game at 11:00 am.
Group ‘A’ must be ready to start their games at 10:00am, 12:00am and 2:00pm.
Group ‘B’ must be ready to start their games at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
Actual start times may vary slightly depending on the completion of the previous group games.
The winning team, runners-up, and third-place team will be announced as soon as possible after the tournament is completed.
Points updates will be made available throughout the day in the club house.
The draw will be made at Caister Bowls Club two days before the tournament allowing all teams time to finalise travel arrangements for either a 10:00 am or 11:00 am start.
Tournament Rules
1. Toss for the mat.
2. Mat placement 2 metres only, every cast.
3. Minimum cast 23 metres.
4. No trial ends.
5. No visiting the head.
6. Both skips to leave the head before either plays.
7. No dead ends, if the jack leaves the rink it is re-spotted at the T.
8. Play positions may not be altered during a game but can be changed for subsequent games.
9. 2 Points for winning the game, 1 point for a draw. All ends won receive an extra 1 point for either team.
10. In the event of a team being disqualified or withdrawn the other team is awarded 5 points.
11. In the event of a draw between teams at the end of the tournament the winner will be decided by shot difference between for and against shots. If this is also a draw a one-end shoot-out will commence.
12. The bell will ring to start each session.
13. 5 minutes grace is allowed for team members to be at the mat after the bell rings for start of play, otherwise the team is disqualified for that game.
14. Appropriate bowling clothing with colours can be worn along with any type of bowling shorts, skirts or trousers. Shoes must be flat sole/heel type.
15. Both skips to sign and hand the scorecards into the tournament co-ordinator. If only one card is handed in, that score will be used.
16. There will be no umpire but an umpire kit will be on hand.
17. The tournament organiser will have the final say in any event.
The above rules keep the games moving with as little delay as possible.
